1.1 Study NT – Introduction and About Us
This course will take you through all aspects of what students need to know about studying in Australia’s Northern Territory. The introductory module gives you an overview of Study NT and the Northern Territory.

The Northern Territory Government’s Study NT promotes Australia's Northern Territory as a study destination for international education and training.
Study NT works with education providers, businesses, and local communities to welcome international students to achieve academic success and discover new pathways to their future in Australia’s Northern Territory.
Study NT sits in the Northern Territory Government Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations.
The work of Study NT is underpinned by pillars in the Northern Territory International Education and Training Strategy 2019-2025:
By focusing on these three pillars, the Northern Territory aims to increase the number of international students choosing to study here to 10,000 by 2030.
Here’s a little glimpse of what it’s like to study and live in the unique and beautiful Northern Territory:
1.2 Acknowledgement of Country
The Northern Territory is home to one of the world’s oldest continuous living cultures with more than 100 language groups throughout the regions. Aboriginal cultures are diverse with unique artistry, stories, languages and ancient traditions spanning more than 60,000 years.
Connection to Country is very much a part of the NT’s identity where the breadth and depth of cultural experiences on offer are like nowhere else.
Study NT respectfully acknowledges and honours the Aboriginal people of the Northern Territory and recognises the continuation of culture, connection to lands, water, and Country.
We pay our respects to Elders past, present and future.
1.3 Getting to the NT
The capital city of the Northern Territory is Darwin and is serviced by Darwin International Airport. It is home to both domestic and international airlines.
From Darwin, you can fly internationally to Singapore, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste. Domestically, Darwin International Airport connects you directly with all state capitals in Australia as well as Alice Springs, Cairns, Townsville and Kununurra.
